If you are in the mood for delicious family friendly Italian, Cariera’s should be on your list. They have consistently good Italian dishes. They are worth visiting.
Every Italian meal should start with a good Italian wine. We chose one of our go to favorites, Chianti, and Ruffino delivers consistently on a great Chianti. It is flexible to go with what ever you order. This was served with a side of breadsticks, and dipping oil. We decided to add Calamari Fritti along with the Salsiccia to wake up our palates.

The Calamari Fritti, a classic mediterranean appetizer, was perfectly crispy, golden, battered, squid steaks. Light yet indulgent, each bite delivered a satisfying crunch that aided the tender calamari. Served with two tasty dipping sauces. One was a sweet chili sauce and the other was a house sauce, amoighue, which was tangy and unlike anything you have had before. Mixing the two was also a great option!

We also decided to try the Salsiccia which was comprised of grilled Italian sausage, colored peppers, and onions. Served with a spicy tomato sauce. This dish was packed with flavor. The sweetness of the Italian sausage, mixed with the tanginess of the onions and pepper, topped with a little dollop of the spicy sauce was the perfect mix. This dish looks so good coming out of the kitchen, with steam still pouring off the top, and the faint smell of peppers and sausage wafting in the air, the table next to us said they had to have what we were having. Like the diners next to Meg Ryan in Harry Met Sally - Dan.

We also had to try the Italian wedding soup. This soup felt like your grandmother made it in the kitchen. In fact someone’s grandmother probably did, literally. This is a family owned and run restaurant. This soup had a flavorful broth, with chunks of spinach, carrot, little meatballs, celery, garlic, and the surprising discovery of little pasta noodles hiding on the bottom. This was a good version of Italian wedding soup. Nona would be proud - Dan.

Dan ordered the lobster fettuccine. This was a bed of spinach fettuccine, sautéed with lobster cream sauce and roasted red peppers. All topped with a light breadcrumb. For a simple dish, it had a lot going on. You could taste the different flavors of the spinach in the fettuccine, the peppers, and both firmly married in the sauce which was rich and creamy and held it all together. I loved this dish, you could get several delicious flavors per bite! I would order this again! - Dan.

Pam ordered the Vitallo Asiago. This was a dish comprised of veal scallopini, sautéed with roasted red pepper, and lobster meat, served in a blushed cream sauce, and topped with grilled asparagus. This dish had the perfect combination of veal and lobster, creating a different delectable bite in each forkful. The asparagus added the earthy break from the velvety creaminess of the veal or lobster twirled in a ribbon of pasta adorned by the buttery blush sauce. This dish was enough for two meals. I could not wait to eat the leftovers the next day.

The house made tiramisu was a creamy cloud of sweetness. The tiramisu body was an airy espresso flavored cloud, topped with a vanilla creamy layer, and further topped with homemade whipped cream. The sauce on the plate was a rich vanilla custard like bed, artistically swirled with ribbons of chocolate. Each layer individually was a perfect version of that layer. All together fork down through the creamy deliciousness to the dredging of the sauce made your mouth hum. Doesn’t matter if you are too full for this, which we were, you need to order this dessert!! You will not be disappointed!! This dish is as beautiful as Ms. America…or Thor - Dan.
